As we sit and ponder where we are at this time in our lives still gripped with the reality of COVID-19 and the devastation many have experienced as a result as well as having to deal with the reality of racial and social injustices, I am sure many of us have asked  Where is God during these chaotic times? or Where is God when the world is in turmoil?

As I pondered these questions I was challenged to search the scripture because the Word of God answers our questions. There are many scriptures that reference the place and / or presence of God including;

Psalm 18:6In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears. (KJV)

Psalm 47:8God sitteth upon the throne of his holiness. (KJV)

1 Peter 3:12For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil. (KJV)

Revelation 21:3And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. (KJV)

As I continued to read and reflect upon the question of where God is, it occurred to me that perhaps we are asking the wrong question.  Should the question be Where is the Church; the people of God during these chaotic times when the world is in turmoil? Not the black church or the white church, not the large church or the small church, but the universal church, those of us who declare that we are children of God saved by the shed blood of Jesus Christ.

Where Are We?…….
